The Fast & Furious franchise shows no signs of slowing down. On the contrary, it is accelerating toward a new format. After 25 years of dominating the global box office with its automotive action films, Dominic Toretto’s universe will make a definitive leap to television.
Actor and producer Vin Diesel revealed the news during an NBCUniversal corporate presentation this Monday. Before executives and the press, he confirmed that Peacock, Universal’s streaming service, will launch four series set within the popular motorized universe. The decision marks the largest attempt at narrative expansion since the creation of the film saga in 2001.
The idea of making the jump to an episodic format did not arise overnight. As Diesel himself explained, it has been a constant request from fans. “Over the last decade, we realized that the fans wanted more,” the actor mentioned. The primary goal of these new projects will be to provide more space for narrative arcs that do not always fit into a two-hour movie.
Why did they decide to bet on television?
One of the greatest challenges for Fast & Furious in cinema has been balancing the enormous number of characters that have joined the “family” over the years. Television will offer a direct solution to this problem. According to Vin Diesel, fans “wanted us to expand on the legacy characters and their stories.” The depth that a series allows is the main reason behind this ambitious expansion.

The actor confessed that the intention to enter the world of television had existed for a decade, but he felt he had to wait for the perfect scenario. That moment of certainty arrived recently, driven by executive changes. “I had to wait until the time was right. It became right when Donna Langley started overseeing everything,” Diesel explained, referring to Langley’s rise within Universal’s leadership structure.
For Diesel, Langley’s presence guaranteed the preservation of the essence of the saga. The actor highlighted that, thanks to her, he felt confident that “the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, and what makes us all feel like a family would be protected in the television realm.” This creative protection was essential for the actor to agree to move his legacy to streaming screens.
What is known about the production of these series?
Although Vin Diesel announced the development of four shows with great enthusiasm, internal industry sources clarified the situation. According to information confirmed by specialized outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, currently only one of those series is in active development at Peacock, while the other ideas are in very early stages of discussion.

Behind the scenes, the active project already has an experienced team. Vin Diesel will be one of the main executive producers, working alongside Sam Vincent through his production company One Race. To lead the project creatively, Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman have been hired; they will not only serve as co-showrunners but have also already written the pilot episode script.
While the universe expands on Peacock, the main story in theaters is preparing for its official farewell. The eleventh film, which was originally expected in 2025 under the title Fast 11, underwent significant changes. In early 2026, Vin Diesel confirmed via Instagram that the concluding film will be titled Fast Forever and will finally hit theaters worldwide on March 17, 2028.
