Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries might worry this year when they check their bank account. However, the money has not disappeared and the important benefit has not been suspended. The reason is that the Social Security Administration (SSA) organizes its payment schedule in a special way.
During 2026, there will be three months in which SSI beneficiaries will not receive a new monthly deposit. This happens because the corresponding payment will be sent in advance. The adjustment is made when the first day of the month falls on a weekend.
The SSA advances the deposit to the last business day before when the 1st of the month is a Sunday or Saturday. It also does so when the 1st is an official federal holiday. This adjustment will cause unusual situations during the 2026 calendar year for beneficiaries.
Which months of 2026 will have no SSI payment?
The three months in which there will be no SSI payments are March, August and November of 2026. However, beneficiaries will still receive the money corresponding to those months. Simply the payment will arrive a few days before the usual and normal date.
The benefit corresponding to March was sent on Friday, February 27. This happened because March 1st fell on a Sunday on the calendar. As a result, there was no additional deposit during March in bank accounts.

Something similar will happen with August. The payment for that month will arrive on Friday, July 31st at the bank. This is because August 1st will be a Saturday this year. For that reason, beneficiaries will not see a new deposit during August in their accounts.
The same situation will repeat in November. The payment will be issued on Friday, October 30th of 2026. This is because November 1st will fall on a Sunday on the calendar. Beneficiaries will receive the November payment before the month begins.
Why does the SSA advance SSI payments?
To understand it better, it is important to remember that SSI is normally paid on the first day of each month. This is the usual and standard date for all beneficiaries of the national SSI program. However, when that date falls on a weekend or holiday, it is adjusted.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) advances the deposit to the last business day before. This prevents beneficiaries from waiting until the following Monday to receive their vital money. The adjustment protects elderly persons and those with disabilities who depend on the payment.
