Major Crackdown in Indiana: 300 Migrants Arrested in Mega-Operation

Indiana has arrested nearly 300 undocumented immigrants operating commercial trucks in a major crackdown on road safety. The arrests, exceeding three drivers per day, followed the implementation of stricter policies and the controversial House Enrolled Act 1200 (HEA1200) law.

The state of Indiana is currently undergoing a severe hardening of all its transit policies. The strict measures were recently confirmed following the surprising police detention of nearly 300 undocumented immigrants. All drivers arrested on state highways were discovered operating large heavy cargo vehicles using commercial driver’s licenses (CDL).

According to advisor Tony Ferraro, the conservative government of Mike Braun quickly identified 283 drivers without regular immigration status. These men and women were operating huge trucks when they were intercepted at different interstate weigh stations. This high daily arrest count represents an aggressive record for the state Department of Public Safety.

"That’s more than three per day that we pull out of trucks," Ferraro proudly expressed to a local security council. The surprised official detailed that many detained drivers carried commercial licenses officially issued in California and New York. These jurisdictions previously allowed such federal documents to be processed for foreign nationals without requiring strict proof of U.S. citizenship.

What Prompted the Hardening of Road Safety in Indiana?

The alarming situation documented by agents led to an immediate reinforcement of routine interstate speed controls. Authorities greatly increased daily patrols on major interstate highways, including the busy Interstate 30. According to official Ferraro’s words, the imposing police presence currently on Indiana’s routes is "the most visible" in more than a decade of continuous road history.

These thorough police inspections not only seek to preventively curb dangerous speeding violations reported. Authorities attempt to quickly detect possible hidden federal crimes and flagrant serious immigration violations. Last fall, Governor Mike Braun had already achieved the arrest of 146 undocumented drivers during the successful operation called "Midway Blitz".

The government decision to increase surveillance comes after multiple tragic incidents recently reported. The accident involving an undocumented foreign driver of Indian origin set off all alarms. The negligent presence of undocumented drivers operating enormous cargo trucks was nationally identified as a genuine risk factor for fatal traffic crashes.

How Does the New HEA1200 Law Restrict Undocumented Migrants?

In the month of April 2026, the state of Indiana surprisingly implemented a much stricter policy. This regulation greatly limits the legal validity of commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) issued to foreigners. This official restriction occurred immediately following the recent enactment of the controversial law House Enrolled Act 1200 (HEA1200).
