Trump Wants to Break a Guinness Record on the 250th Anniversary

President Trump aims to make America's 250th anniversary celebration unforgettable by breaking a Guinness World Record with the largest fireworks display in history, featuring over 810,904 synchronized explosives in a 40-minute spectacular show at the White House and National Mall on July 4th.

With the firm goal of commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States in grand fashion, the White House has integrated several major events into its national agenda. The historic July 4th celebrations this year will be vastly different from what is customary in the capital. President Donald Trump wants to go down in history for the extravagant celebration he will impose on the commemoration of independence.

Under this presidential premise, the U.S. government set the ambitious goal of organizing the greatest fireworks display of all time. To achieve this, the Freedom 250 commission, directly charged with planning this and other major events, hired the services of Pyrotechnico. This prestigious company is recognized worldwide for the massive and colorful pyrotechnic displays it typically produces.

More than one million people are expected to gather in the vicinity of the White House and the National Mall. Attendees will be part of a historic celebration that promises to be an unparalleled experience in the nation’s history. The Government has described this massive public gathering as a true civic celebration of epic proportions.

What does the Guinness Record attempt in Washington consist of?

The official task consists of having pyrotechnic experts break an impressive world record during the patriotic celebrations. Rachel Reisner, spokesperson for Freedom 250, assured Axios that this spectacular finale will shatter records and be the largest event ever seen. The impressive show will last approximately 40 continuous minutes and aims to far surpass any previous fireworks record.

If what was strictly agreed upon is fulfilled, the enormous amount of gunpowder burned will be greater than that used in the Philippines in 2016. During that Filipino New Year celebration, the night sky was illuminated for 60 continuous minutes. On that celebrated Asian occasion, exactly 810,904 fireworks were used to set the current official record.

To break this complex record in Washington, organizers need to detonate more than 810,904 synchronized explosives perfectly in less time. Pyrotechnico will require the support of fifty or more heavy trucks to transport all the dangerous material needed. Additionally, the American company will have operational support from at least 60 people from its specialized logistics team.

From where will the fireworks be launched?

The ambitious federal plan consists of thousands of fireworks being launched simultaneously from different strategic points in the U.S. capital. The firing zones include the emblematic reflecting pool at the Lincoln Monument and the expansive West Potomac Park. Eight large aquatic barges anchored strategically will be added to these ground areas to illuminate the entire horizon.

According to government sources cited by media outlets such as The Washington Post, the celebration at the National Mall will be framed by the Great American State Fair. This monumental event, lasting 16 continuous days, will feature representative participation from all 50 states in the country. The exhibition will proudly showcase the nation’s enormous cultural and gastronomic wealth.

Security around the detonation zones will be extremely strict throughout the civic celebration. Federal authorities will close several main streets and avenues around the White House and the National Mall. It is strongly recommended that all tourists and residents use the capital’s public transportation to avoid traffic gridlock.
