The political landscape heading toward the 2028 elections began to shift following an exchange between Hunter Biden and Gavin Newsom. The son of former U.S. President Joe Biden jokingly commented about a possible presidential ticket. The conversation took place during an episode of the California governor’s podcast.

The California governor introduced his guest humorously as presidential candidate Hunter Biden. That introduction referenced recent comments from President Donald Trump about the political aspirations of Joe Biden’s son. Trump had suggested that Hunter could be successful in Democratic primary elections.

On the show This Is Gavin Newsom, Hunter joked that he would only enter politics under one condition. “Here’s the deal: I’ll run, but only as your vice president,” Hunter told Newsom. That informal statement generated swift media attention about the 2028 U.S. presidential race.

What Did Hunter Biden Say About the Vice Presidential Residence?

The son of former President Joe Biden joked about his motivation for accepting only the vice presidency. According to the New York Post, Hunter said the vice president’s residence is “much cooler.” That residence is located at the Naval Observatory in Washington D.C.

Additionally, Hunter Biden added that the vice presidential position is “a much easier job.” The vice presidential residence is not subject to the same level of public scrutiny and constant media pressure as the White House. That joke resonated with followers of the California governor’s podcast.

Hunter’s comment also included a reference to Newsom’s aspirations. “I had to give you a break for a day, at least,” Hunter joked, acknowledging the constant attention on the governor’s political future. Newsom is considered a strong Democratic Party candidate for 2028.

Gavin Newsom is seen as one of the country’s most prominent progressive leaders currently. The California governor aims to consolidate his national image with an eye toward the presidency. His podcast functions as a promotional vehicle for his 2028 national political ambitions.

The relaxed conversation allowed Hunter to suggest he has no plans to withdraw from public life. Despite recent scandals, his participation on social media has increased significantly since May. That digital activity has fueled speculation about a possible political candidacy.

President Donald Trump evaluated the possibility of Hunter Biden running for president in 2028. Trump explored the idea saying that the son of former President Joe Biden could have real chances. The Republican leader made those comments during a recent White House briefing.
