U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Thursday to have reached a “great deal” for peace with Iran. The agreement is pending formalization and could be signed this weekend in Europe. The U.S. president will likely not be present at the signing ceremony.
Trump declared to journalists in the Oval Office of the White House: “We have just reached a great agreement to resolve the conflict with Iran. Formalization remains pending, which should be completed in the coming days.” The president indicated that the agreement would likely take place in Europe.
The Republican leader said that Vice President J.D. Vance would attend the signing during the weekend. Trump will be heading a sporting event at the White House on Sunday for his 80th birthday. He will then travel to Europe to attend the G7 Summit beginning Monday.
