The director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Kash Patel, faces serious public accusations. Various reports indicate that he manipulated federal arrest statistics from his agency. The main objective would be to project an image of complete success during his current administrative management.

During a recent Senate hearing, Patel vigorously defended his questioned institutional administration. The official claimed that the FBI managed to double the number of recent arrests. Additionally, he claimed to have captured 8 of the 10 most wanted fugitives in a truly record time.

However, agents and former officials from the federal agency categorically deny these claims. They maintain that the figures are artificially inflated through new and controversial internal operational policies. According to the official portal of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), complete statistical transparency is vital.

How Are Arrests From Other Agencies Counted?

The concerning information was recently revealed by U.S. media outlet MS NOW. The report cites multiple law enforcement officials familiar with these new internal directives. According to the investigative text, the FBI altered its traditional way of recording various official captures.

Now, the agency counts arrests made by other different departments as “its own arrests.” This includes major operations carried out by local police or other U.S. federal forces. The only current requirement is that there be some minimal presence of FBI agents.

One of the most obvious examples involves massive immigration operations that occurred recently. These various actions were led by agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE). According to public records from ICE, these massive arrests occurred in Minneapolis and Memphis. The FBI arbitrarily added thousands of these cases to its own success statistics.

What Happened With the Most Wanted List?

An anonymous former federal official was very direct in criticizing these new public institutional practices. He explained that Patel constantly manipulates things to inflate his statistics in a very deceptive way. This unfortunate situation generates deep discontent among the most dedicated and experienced investigative agents.

The detailed journalistic report also points to another extremely controversial and concerning tactic. The FBI allegedly altered its historic and respected “Ten Most Wanted” list. The managerial intention was to appear to achieve extraordinary results and major captures of the highest operational police complexity.

The extensive investigation indicates that several dangerous fugitives were added just hours before being detained. This allowed Patel to publicly boast of extremely quick and highly effective captures. As the U.S. Department of Justice notes, this prestigious list requires very rigorous processes. However, the brave agents assert that their superiors were nominating criminals who had already been cornered previously.

Why Is There an Internal Crisis at the FBI?

The most striking case of this crude manipulation directly involved criminal Samuel Ramírez Jr. This dangerous individual was formally accused of committing a terrible aggravated double homicide. He was detained in Culiacán, Mexico, just 1 hour after officially being added to the famous list.

The official FBI spokesperson, Ben Williamson, categorically rejected all these media accusations. He assured that the constant journalistic criticism only seeks to discredit the hard and dangerous police work. Williamson declared
